Treat skirlie, soup and stovies as questions because traditional fat or stock may not be vegan.
What to buy
Fort William is the main shop. Look for vegan-labelled haggis, beans, lentils, wraps, oat milk, nuts and a ready-to-eat meal. The Wildcat also has a weigh-your-own wholefood section. South Laggan's Great Glen Hostel confirms an on-site grocery store. Fort Augustus has a Spar, Invermoriston a small village store, and Drumnadrochit a Co-op. National product availability does not guarantee stock in these small branches, so carry one meal that needs no kitchen.

South Laggan: Great Glen Hostel confirms a shop and seasonal restaurant, but its published sample menu does not identify a vegan meal, so request dinner before arrival. Fort Augustus: recent vegan diners report labelled options at the Bothy, including cottage pie; this is likely rather than operator-confirmed. Invermoriston: Glen Rowan's menu labels vegan dishes and recent diners report breakfast, burgers, sandwiches and cakes; check current opening. Drumnadrochit: the current operator pages checked do not publish vegan food, so use the Co-op or arrange a meal directly. Abriachan: the eco-campsite cafe is a useful third-party lead for simple vegan food, but its small set menu varies. Inverness: the Victorian Market describes Salt N Fire as exclusively vegan. Black Isle Bar is a secondary lead for vegan-cheese pizzas; ask in house.
Trail treats
The Wildcat's all-vegan counter is the dependable cake stop. Recent diners also report vegan cake at Glen Rowan and the Bothy, but check what is labelled on the day.
Where to restock
Northbound, leave Fort William with two days, then use the South Laggan hostel shop and Fort Augustus Spar. Invermoriston is only a top-up; Drumnadrochit is the final proper shop before the climb to Abriachan and Inverness. Southbound, buy in Inverness and Drumnadrochit before the smaller central stops. Do not make the Abriachan cafe your only dinner plan, and pre-arrange breakfast or packed lunch where accommodation is the sole kitchen.
Things that may not be vegan
Vegetarian haggis can be vegan while the accompanying mash contains butter. Ask about meat stock in soup, dripping in skirlie or stovies, and egg or butter in breakfast breads. Cask ale may use isinglass. Gluten-free pizza bases are not automatically vegan.
