Local food worth trying
Order tumbet, vegetable frit or plain pa amb oli after confirming no egg, meat or cheese has been added. Sa Fonda's menu at Lluc lists tumbet, Padrón peppers and vegetable paella or fideuà, providing a named counter. Coca and ensaïmada may use saïm, pork lard. Sopes mallorquines and allioli also need stock and egg checks.
What to buy
Shop in Palma before Sant Elm, use village shops through Estellencs, Esporles, Valldemossa and Deià, then make Sóller the major reset. Eroski confirms a vegan own-brand range and Lidl Spain confirms Vemondo, but branch stock varies. Carry bread, hummus or beans, olives, nuts and a spare dinner from Sóller through Tossals Verds and Lluc.
Good places on the trail
Ses Fontanelles states that its basic refuge has no shop, restaurant or cooking facility, so carry dinner. Refugi Muleta and Son Amer have separate walker reports of vegan requests not reaching the kitchen or becoming dairy-based meals. At Tossals Verds, one vegan walker received a good vegetable dinner only after the previous guardian telephoned ahead. Treat all refugi food as requested, not secured, and reconfirm on arrival. Sóller has several strong vegan directory leads and full shops. Lluc: Sa Fonda's operator menu provides the strongest current meal evidence. Pollença has full resupply. Port de Pollença: Bellaverde's own site describes a plant-based vegan restaurant.
Trail treats
At Sóller, ask which fruit sorbets are vegan. Choose vegan-labelled cake at a current counter; ordinary ensaïmada and coca may contain lard, butter or egg.
Where to restock
Northbound, start with two days from Palma, then use Esporles or Valldemossa and reset fully in Sóller. Carry every meal from Sóller to Lluc plus a spare dinner even when a refugi has accepted the request. Lluc has a small shop with limited reported hours; Pollença is the next full reset. Refugi closures remove both beds and food, so check the current operator calendar.
Things that may not be vegan
Check pork lard in coca and ensaïmada, egg in allioli, meat stock in soups and rice, and dairy in a meal described only as vegetarian. A booking comment is not proof the kitchen received it.
