May and September, then April. May is dry, warm and long-lit with everything open before the crowds; September is the same warmth with the sea at its best for swimming off a stage and the crowds falling away. April is the most beautiful of the three, with the wild flowers at their peak, at the cost of a slightly higher chance of rain and some places not yet open.
Two clear windows: April to early June, and September to October. Corfu is the wettest part of Greece, so the winter rating is about water rather than cold, and mid-winter days still average 14 to 15 C. July and August are dry but too hot for the long unshaded inland climbs, which is the opposite of what the island's tourist season would suggest. The other winter constraint is that most accommodation and tavernas along the route close from roughly November to March, so a through-walk out of season is limited by what is open rather than by the walking. One movable date sits inside the best window and is worth checking for your year before booking: Orthodox Easter usually falls in April or early May, the seven weeks of Great Lent before it have village kitchens cooking fasting food with no meat or dairy, and Holy Week and Easter are the island's largest event of the year, which fills it. One thing the autumn window shares with the winter: the Greek hunting season is open across all of it. The season is set each year by a ministerial decision on hunting and runs from about 20 August to the end of February, so both of the prime autumn months, and every month rated poor for rain, sit inside it. In 2025 to 2026 it opened on 20 August 2025 and closed on 28 February 2026, with rabbit running to 10 March, and dogs restricted to Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays for most quarry. Check your own year's decision for the exact dates. On Corfu the shooting is in exactly the ground this trail walks, olive groves, scrub and field edges, and it is loudest in the first hours of daylight.
Mild by northern European standards at 14 C, and rated down for rain rather than cold. Corfu is the wettest part of Greece and January is in the thick of the wet season, with most accommodation and tavernas along the route shut.
